Best Art School in Australia

Adelaide Central School of Art has been identified as the best art school in Australia for student experience according to the latest national Student Experience Survey (SES) findings released on 16 May 2018. 

The results indicate that out of 22 Australian institutions, including universities and non-university higher education institutions (NUHEI), that offer a dedicated undergraduate visual art degree (i.e. Bachelor of Visual Art or Bachelor of Fine Arts), Adelaide Central School of Art recorded:

  • 1st for Overall Quality of Educational Experience
  • 1st for Teaching Quality
  • 1st for Student Support and
  • 3rd for Skills Development.

The School has bettered its 2016 ranking by one place – it recorded 2nd for Overall Quality of Educational Experience (out of the providers of an undergraduate visual art degree) in the 2016 SES.

Other outstanding 2017 results record that out of 94 other Australian institutions (54 NUHEI and 41 universities) that offer undergraduate degrees, Adelaide Central School of Art ranks as:

  • 2nd in Australia for Student Support
  • 5th in Australia for Overall Quality of Educational Experience
  • 5th in Australia for Teaching Quality 

The SES is conducted each year by the Social Research Centre for the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) website. It is the only comprehensive survey of current higher education students in Australia. The survey is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training.
